The Crop Factor is a regularly inconsistent blog about photography, visual art, and things like that. It’s a personal project by me, Mats Söderlund, a self-taught amateur photographer and graphic artist based in Helsinki, Finland. What I’m trying to do here is collect and write about some of the things that inspire me, and if someone out there is interested in the same things, well, great!
Despite the name of the site, the content isn’t in any way limited to cropped-DSLR-related stuff, it’s just a name I thought of and it was available, so, there you go. I’m trying to focus on the art itself of photography and visual design, not just gadget reports and tech news (although I’m a bit of a techgeek myself). Anything from 19th century wet-plates to gigantic vector graphics, pinholes to helmet-heroes, ah, you get what I’m saying.
I’m hoping to get in contact with a lot of up-and-coming artists, and anyone is invited to submit their own work, whether it be in the form of an image gallery, a personal portfolio, or just an inspiring story. You can do that by hitting the link at the top of the page.
The first post was written in September of 2012, and honestly, I have no idea what direction this site will take, so, let’s just wait and see about that.
Hope you enjoy!
P.S. Most of the submitted content on this site is copyrighted by each individual artist, and I do my best to give credit where credit is due. If you find anything on this site you’d wish to correct, or have me remove, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
